In my point project I tried to focus on variety and unity. The unity was rather simple due to the fact that all the points I took pictures of were eyes. One definition of a point is "an individual or distinguishing detail" and what is more individualistic or distinguishing than someone's eye? However, what I struggled with during this project was how to make it interesting. By forming the pictures of eyes into a singular "I" increases the symbolic unity because it speaks to the one trait that unites all people: humanity. We are all human, we all have a soul, and that's really what it comes down to. The subject of eyes felt the best to me because I love people. I love talking to them and hearing the stories that their eyes reflect.

The variation in this design comes into play because not only are there people of different races but also the skin colors within these different races have very different undertones. Not to mention that no two eye colors are the same. With these factors at play, figuring out which two pictures put together would result in the best end product was the biggest struggle. Should I organize by the color of eyes or the color of skin? Ultimately I chose to do skin because it lead to an overall more balanced piece.

If I were to do this project again I would still choose to do eyes because it not only meets the definition of a "point" to a tee but it also allowed me to run with a topic and idea that I find really inspiring. I thought that this design could be used at the end of a commercial or on a pamphlet promoting individuality and strength of character, so that is the reasoning for the mantra "I wake, I work, I conquer" at the bottom.
